Maurice Bishop Studio Gallery
Maurice Bishop opened his Dunster gallery in 1987, since then, he has also opened a Lynmouth gallery.
Maurice was born in Highbridge, Somerset and has enjoyed drawing and painting since childhood. He left Cannington’s Brymore School to pursue other jobs. In the meantime, he continued to paint as a hobby and eventually became a full-time artist at Burnham on Sea.
Maurice is self-taught and paints in oils on canvas. He uses his imagination, drawings, photographs, and personal experience to create an impression of a landscape. Exmoor is a favourite spot for Maurice. His work includes many scenes that make Exmoor such a popular destination, including Watersmeet and Malmsmead, and Tarr Steps.
Maurice doesn’t accept commissions as he prefers to paint what he loves. His work has attracted a large following, with many returning visitors to his family galleries in Sidmouth, Lynmouth, and Dunster. He also has private collections around the world that keep his followers interested in where his creativity takes him. Maurice’s artwork has been used as CD covers and in numerous publications.
Maurice’s work is printed on acid-free paper with light fast inks. The images can be hung on box canvases as giclees, which is a popular option. This presentation eliminates the need to frame and gives your images a contemporary look.
