Dunster Castle has its own car park, which is free for National Trust members and accepts both card and cash payments for non-members.
On the opposite end of the village, Park Street Car Park provides a convenient option for walkers and visitors heading to Gallox Bridge, Bats Castle, and the surrounding countryside.
Limited on-street parking is also available in Dunster Village, but restrictions may apply, especially during peak seasons. For those visiting for an extended period, parking in designated areas outside the village and walking in can be a good alternative. Visitors are encouraged to check local signage for up-to-date information on charges and time limits.
Dunster Steep Car Park
Dunster Steep Car Park is a spacious and convenient parking facility located at the entrance to the historic village of Dunster in Somerset. Ideally situated for visitors exploring the village’s medieval landmarks, including Dunster Castle and the Yarn Market, the car park provides easy access to local shops, cafés, and walking trails.
Dunster Steep Car Park is a long-stay, pay and display facility with no height restrictions and 24-hour access, offering 156 standard bays, 5 disabled bays, 2 EV charging bays, and 9 coach bays and public toilets available on-site.
Parking charges start from £2.40 for 2 hours and up to £6.10 for all day, these apply from 9am to 6pm daily including public and bank holidays. Payment can be made using contactless, chip and pin, or coins at the pay-and-display machine, or via the PayByPhone app using location code 801874.

Dunster Castle Car Park
Dunster Castle Car Park is the main parking facility for visitors to the historic Dunster Castle, located on the edge of the charming village of Dunster in Somerset. Managed by the National Trust, the car park offers ample space for cars, including designated disabled parking bays for accessible visits.
From the car park, it’s just a short and scenic walk to the castle entrance, where visitors can explore the castle’s stunning interiors, beautiful gardens, and sweeping views of the surrounding countryside.
National Trust members can park for free in the Dunster Castle car park, which is off the A39 before the turn-off for Dunster Village.
Parking: £5.50 all day, members free (please scan your card), motor home £11 (space dependent). Paybyphone facility for those without coins – location code 806775. Car park gates locked at 5pm daily. The car park is small and parking spaces are limited.

In poor weather we suggest parking in the Dunster Steep car park. Please check the Dunster Castle website before travelling. We cannot guarantee parking for all motorhomes. Strictly no caravans or trailers.

Dunster Park Street Car Park
Dunster Park Street Car Park is located at the other end of Dunster, further from the Minehead road. Just a short walk from Dunster Working Watermill and Gallox Bridge, also not far from the shops and cafés that line the village streets, it provides easy access for visitors exploring this picturesque destination.
The car park offers a 19 of spaces for cars, including 3 designated disabled parking bays, and is well-suited for both short stays and longer visits. Reasonably priced and maintained to a high standard, it serves as an excellent starting point for walkers and visitors heading over Gallox Bridge, up to Bats Castle, and the surrounding Exmoor countryside.
Dunster Park Street Car Park is currently £1.20 per hour for cars and £6.10 for all day parking. It takes cash, card or wireless payments. You can pay for parking using PayByPhone with location code 801875. It is charged for 9am to 6pm daily, including public and bank holidays.

Dunster Beach Car Park

The are plenty of parking spaces available, including designated areas for disabled visitors. The car park is open year-round, with reasonable parking fees that help maintain the beach and its surrounding facilities. Public toilets, a beach shop, and refreshments are available nearby, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable visit.
Dunster Beach Parking is currently £1 per hour for cars and £1 for 24 hours parking. It has two machines, the one nearer the entrance takes cash, card or wireless payments, the other nearer the chalets is cash only.
