The most important place of historical significance and sightseeing, Dunster Castle is a magnificent tourist destination. Now owned and maintained by the National Trust, the gigantic fortress was originally built as a motte and bailey timber castle during the Norman Conquest by William de Mohun. The mighty fortification was renovated into a country house by the Luttrell family that acquired the property in 1404 and resided there for more than 600 years.
