Chalet 123
Chalet 123, known as ‘Hut by the Sea,’ is situated in a prime location on the front row of Dunster Beach, offering uninterrupted views directly across the Hawn nature reserve and the sea. From a side window, you can enjoy a lovely view of Blue Anchor Bay, while the front window frames a stunning panorama of Exmoor. Positioned towards the quieter golf course end of the site, the chalet benefits from less traffic, ensuring a peaceful and tranquil stay.
The accommodation features an open-plan living and dining area, with one small bedroom and a separate toilet/shower room. A small wall-hung TV with an integral radio is provided for your entertainment, and heating is supplied by a wall-hung convector heater, along with a portable, quiet floor fan heater. The toilet/shower room is also equipped with an overhead fan heater to keep things comfortable.
Designed to sleep four, the chalet includes a large convertible sofa for two adults and two bunk beds. However, only the lower bunk is suitable for adults. The bedroom has a sliding door to maximise space, making the most of the compact layout.
The kitchen area is equipped with a built-in refrigerator (without a freezer compartment), a dishwasher, an induction hob, and an oven. Cutlery, crockery, mugs, and glassware are provided, allowing for a convenient self-catering experience.
Guests will need to bring their own bedding, including pillows, pillowcases, duvets, duvet covers, bottom sheets, and mattress protectors. The main bed/settee is king-size and is best suited to an elasticated fitted sheet, as a flat sheet would be difficult to tuck in. Mattress protectors are requested for hygiene reasons. Additionally, guests should bring towels, tea towels, dish cloths, soaps, shampoos, and dishwasher tablets (or wash-up liquid), along with their own food supplies.
The site also offers separate toilet and shower blocks, along with a coin-operated laundry facility for guests’ convenience.
Check-in is typically from 3 pm on the day of arrival, and departures are required by 10 am. Guests are asked to return the keys to the office upon departure. The owners hope that you have a happy and memorable seaside holiday and kindly ask that the chalet is left clean and tidy for the enjoyment of the next guests. Should any breakages occur, please inform the office, and these will be charged at cost, or alternatively, you may replace the items yourself with a similar quality product.
If you wish to re-book the chalet for the same period next year, please notify the Beach Office as soon as possible after your stay to avoid disappointment.
On-Site
You don’t need to venture far to find our on-site amenities, all manned by Dunster Beach Chalet staff to help you as needed and give advice and recommendations. A launderette and a shop are open daily, as well as the Kingfisher Café serving a variety of light bites and fuller meals for those times when you don’t feel like cooking.
Free Wi-Fi can be enjoyed in the café, and the putting green is available for those who’d like to get competitive.
Dunster Village
Should you choose to venture a little further afield, you’ll find the village of Dunster right on your doorstep. A far cry from some of the nearby resorts, Dunster is a locale rich in history dating all the way back to the Iron Ages; and with a population of just over 800, you can be sure of a friendly chat with the locals whenever you nip by.
Overlooked by the impressive Dunster Castle, the village is perfect for leisurely strolls and offers a variety of shops, pubs and cafes for visitors to enjoy. If you’re visiting in May you can see the historic custom of the Minehead Hobby Horse visiting the village and being received at the castle; or if in August, see the Dunster Show and explore the produce of local businesses and producers showcasing their best wares.
Nearby, visitors can explore the various nature trails (one of three Exmoor National Park Visitors Centres can be found in the centre of Dunster) through the stunning moorland and woodland of the area afoot or opt for the West Somerset Railway for a faster tour. This 20-mile heritage railway course spans the Bristol Channel Coast and is recommended for its unrivalled views and historic richness.
Dunster Beach Chalets offer a unique insight into this beautiful corner of the world, balancing the solitude of the coast, countryside and National Park with all of the modern amenities and activities that can keep you busy when needed.
